Or, to paraphrase:
All Europeans are equal, but some Europeans are more equal than others.

When I was 16
It's been four days, and I still don't know what I should have said to the pretty girl sitting next to me who said "Everybody likes good porn."

The Hot Chocolate Story
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups-porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite -- telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.
When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said:
"Notice that all the nice looking; expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups...
And then you began eyeing each others cups.
Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate we have.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Thank the Lord for your blessings ... and enjoy your hot chocolate!

Peace of Mind (Odmori dušu...)
Yes, I perpetually incline to be depressed. And then my best man M. P. send an email. Usually he is very down to earth, knows exactly where to go what to do, but from time to time he comes up with a collection of sayings, a thought, or just plain "If would be wonderful if..." idea.
This is one of his knots in the tapestry of universe....
- It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.
Andre Gide (1869 - 1951)
- The only way to avoid mistakes is to gain experience. The only way to gain experience is to do mistakes.
Anonymous
- You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950), "Back to Methuselah" (1921), part 1, act 1
- To a considerable extent people can be loosely classified as hosts and guests.
Max Beerbohm
- It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.
Seneca (5 BC - 65 AD)
- Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win.
Jonathan Kozol
Thanks!

A Better Joke :-)

Koala sjedi na drvu kad li prođe gušter. "Ej Koala! Šta radiš?"
Koala kaže: "Pušim joint, dođi gore i probaj."
A koala is sitting in a tree smoking a joint when a little lizard walks past and looks up and says to the koala "Hey! what are you doing?"
The koala says "Smoking a joint, come up and have some."
So the little lizard climbs up and sits next to the koala and they have a few joints. After a while the little lizard says his mouth is 'dry' and is going to get a drink from the river.
The little lizard is so stoned that he leans too far over and falls into the river.
malo popit vode.A crocodile sees this and swims over to the little lizard and helps him to the side, then asks the little lizard, "What's the matter with you?"
The little lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting smoking a joint with the koala in the tree, got too stoned and then fell into the river while taking a drink.
Krokodil odluči da ode do koale u šumu, gdje nađe koalu kako upravo uvlači zadnji dim posljednjeg jointa.... Krokodil zaviče: "Hej, ti!"
The crocodile says he has to check this out and walks into the rain forest, finds the tree where the koala is sitting finishing a joint, and he looks up and says "Hey you!"

Koala pogleda s drva i začuđeno vikne... "Jebate stari!!!!! .......Pa koliko vode si ti to popio?!!"
The koala looks down and says "Faaaaarrrrk dude.... ...how much water did you drink?!!"

Dao Bog da se ne vratio! (God Forbids You Return!)
When I emigrated from Croatia long time ago, and my father visited me, he asked me whether I had heard the expression: "God forbids you return!". I didn't know the saying.
Its origin is from Dalmatia, Croatia. People there were so poor that when somebody succeeded to buy a ship ticket, or got the job at one so he would be able to leave the place, their parents and everybody who wished him well would wish him to stay there, not to return ever in this misery and poverty.
It is hard to understand all the connotations here, but everybody who is a parent knows the feeling when their daughter or son leaves the home let alone the country. And those uneducated, simple people, who did not have any background to hide there feelings, would wish that to their only child.
I came back in Croatia three years ago. I wish my father told me the saying before I have decided to come back.
